Service families are very adaptable, adjusting to many changes during the naval career of their loved one.  Retirement brings further change.

For many people retirement is welcome, allowing families to spend more time together as well as bringing new opportunities.  The gratuity and naval pension can also help provide families with a secure financial future.

However, not all service people find the adjustment to civilian life straightforward and this can affect their families.  Those living in married quarters need to find a home of their own and although the naval pension is welcome, many still need to find a new job to supplement the family income.
