Tate Sketchbook

A series of sketches drawn by Lieutenant Hugh Tate during World War One. These depict important naval scenes during the conflict, such as the Battle of Jutland, Germany's U Boat campaign, and Gallipoli. Tate has also produced sketches of ships such as HMS Implacable, HMS Royal Oak and HMS Invincible.

Sketchbook of Lieutenant Tate

A small sketchbook belonging to Lieutenant Hugh Tate. It contains skilled ink line drawings done by Tate during World War One, often accompanied with titles or explanatory notes. It covers a variety of scenes of the Battle of Jutland, the U Boat campaign, Gallipoli and ships such as HMS Implacable, HMS Royal Oak and HMS Invincible. It is enclosed within a green buckram cover hand drawn with ink sketches.
