HMS Fulmar

Photographs from an album kept by the Women’s Royal Naval Service unit at HMS Fulmar II, dating from 1950 to 1961. It includes photographs of Wrens at work, social functions, sports events, visits of Senior Officers, and parades. HMS Fulmar II was a former Royal Air Force base located near Milltown in Scotland from 1946-1972. It became the largest Naval Air Station in Scotland. The airfield was returned to the RAF in September 1972.

A photo of Wrens running in an egg and spoon race at sports day in July 1950. A photo of a couple at a WRNS St Valentine's Day dance, held in 1953. A photo of the Wren hockey team in Autumn 1951. A photo of four Wrens and a Royal Naval Officer attending a Chief and Petty Officer WRNS dance held on 1st February 1952. A photo of the Wren netball team in 1953. A photo of the Wren cricket team in 1953. A photo of the Air Command badminton team in 1953. A hand drawn invitation to a Halloween dance, organised by the WRNS Dance committee, held on 29th October 1954.
