New kinds of submarines

A Submarine Development Committee formed in May 1915 to consider the Royal Navy's future policy for submarine design. There was a decision to continue with the existing coastal and overseas types of boats, as these were the main submarines used in the war effort. In addition, suggestions for â€˜fleet' submarines and monitors with large naval guns were also put forwards.
