Introduction - Marking the 300th anniversary of the Royal Marines

In 1964 the Royal Marines celebrated their 300th anniversary. The Corps organised a lavish programme of events including several high profile events in London such as the Royal Review on 23 July.

The Tercentenary celebrations included all ranks and units of the Royal Marines from Commandos to the Band Service and Voluntary Reservists. Most importantly, the events highlighted the continuing role of the Corps and showcased its ability to stage meticulously organised ceremonial events of the highest military standard.
