Westland Wasps

Naval helicoptors attack Argentinian submarine

The Wasp was a general-purpose naval helicopter that was used onboard smaller ships where there was limited space for a flight deck. During the late 1970s and the early 1980s the Westland Wasp squadrons were in the process of being re-equipped with Lynx helicopters. Although coming towards the end of their service Wasp helicopters played an important role in the Falklands campaign.
