The role of the Fleet Air Arm in the Korean War

On the 25 June 1950 North Korean Communists crossed the 38th parallel. The UN voted to help the South Koreans and assembled a task force. The Navy dispatched many of its warships that were near to Japan at the time to assist in the American lead operation. The Korean War was to last until 1953 and although the American backed South Korean Forces and Chinese backed North Korean forces made gains, the border in 1953 was approximately the same as it had been in 1950.
