German invasion of Norway
Operations occurred in the waters near the Norwegian coast after the German invasion of Norway in March 1940. British submarines were the only force sent to resist the invasion. They attacked German troop transports, supply ships and escort vessels, and also laid minefields. German convoys formed, but British submarines continued to successfully target shipping in this region throughout the war.
