Hal Far formally commissioned as HMS Falcon on 15th April 1946, hauling down the RAF ensign.
In addition to disembarked squadrons it housed a Fleet Requirements Unit, using many different types of aircraft.
Active flying continued throughout the 1950's, with the arrival of the first Fleet Air Arm jet fighters disembarked from carriers, notably during the 1956 Suez Crisis.
