Entertainment at HMS Talbot

Submariners found it difficult to find time to relax at the base as the Island was being constantly bombed. Options for leisure time consisted of playing squash or drinking at bars overlooking the Grand Harbour. As one submariner recalled his visit to:

“…Silema Front where we would sing all night in the Old Dun Cow then going with some local who would provide you with a bed if you hadn’t already booked one.”

The submariners could also visit the cinema which showed different films each evening. The films were to prove extremely popular with submarine crews and acted as a great morale booster.
