The rest of MacQuaid's career
MacQuaid went on to serve on all the major carriers during the 1970s and 1980s including HMS Eagle, Hermes and Victorious.
He continued up the ranks and always ensured he looked after those below him taking pride when they themselves were promoted. He eventually left the Royal Navy in August 1985 after nearly 25 years with a Long Service Good Conduct Medal.

He continued his association with the Navy and aviation by joining the team at the Fleet Air Arm in Yeovilton and helping the museum build their award winning Carrier Exhibition.
