The Falklands War
War in the South Atlantic
The Falklands Conflict showed the Royal Marines doing what they do best.
Called up by the British Government at the last minute, the Corps was able to supply the whole of 3 Commando Brigade.
The war effort also involved detachments of its sea-going marines and its amphibious special operations unit, the SBS.
The Royal Marines Commandos were an integral part of the amphibious invasion and subsequent land action and their versatility, high level of training and professionalism won them great accolades.
The Corps lost 26 killed during the Conflict.
