Whether running around the ship or doing designated circuits, the Royal Navy keeps its sailors fit at sea. The navy has sports equipment for playing onboard and when it comes alongside in ports.

On earlier ships gymnastics apparatus, make-shift pools and games equipment were also carried. Sailors also have the opportunity to swim in the sea around the ship this is called 'hands to bathe'.
